Home Made Film Back.

120 size film backs for 4x5 cameras can be very expensive, even at reduced prices, they are beyond my means. So what is a poor boy to do?. Improvise, so when I saw a batter old Ferrania 120 film camera in a charity shop (Thrift store), for the tiny sum of £2, I snapped it up. Once home I sawn off the back,  mounted it onto a piece of block board, cut a hole for the film to show through, and screwed it all together, and hey Joe, it worked.

Here are some indoor still life images I made recently, using objects from our lounge and kitchen the black corners are from the hole I cut, which is round and not square. I used the same Skink 0.420 pinhole lens as I do for the large format negatives. There is much more experimentation to do, but doing my own thing, rather than pay out (with money I don't have), for a 120 film back, is much more fun.
