First Metal Tin Types



 I have too say, my first ever shoot with 4x5 Zebra Tin Type plates was not a roaring success. That is NOTHING to do with the product itself, it was be find my way through the process, and choosing absolutely the wrong subject to begin with.

Having said all of that, I am delight to have the opportunity to try again, this time along a beautiful stretch of English coastline, in West Norfolk, UK, where I am sitting and writing this blog post. Tomorrow, we drive to a place called Snettisham, where I made my first real images, with a Russian made Fed Rangefinder camera, back in 1971.

I have four plates loaded into the dark slides, and some spare in the box. Really looking forward to my second and hopefully more positive response.

Glass Plate Projects









 The past couple of weeks have seen me finally get to grips with glass plate photography, and this week I will be moving onto Tin Types.

Partly inspired by the twilight years of Vincent Van Gough, particularly his work in Auvers, France, I have taking the camera to local meadows, and canal side, to try and capture something of his spirit.

Much more to follow this week and beyond.
